Operating Rules for Ridgefield Seniors Men's Golf
Eligibilty - Regulars
Regular members must be not less than 62 years of age, have an established USGA handicap, and have played at least one season as an alternate and have posted at least 20 scores in the preceding year.
Alternates who apply for regular membership become eligible in the order in which they first applied for alternate membership. Among factors considered will be number of rounds played, and frequency of participation in events.
In fairness to other players, those with handicaps higher than 36 are expected to seek professional instruction and play regularly to improve their level of skill.
Eligibilty - Alternates
Alternate members must be not less than 62 years of age, and have an established USGA handicap with not less than 5 rounds played in the season of application to be permitted to participate in a competition.
Attendance at Events
Each week, a listing of members will be available at the frst tee, and later in the restaurant, for members to indicate their intention to play or not in each of the following two weeks' events. Members not so indicating, or informing Jim Kehoe, by email or phone by Saturday evening preceding the event will be assumed to be not playing. Players signing-up after that Saturday will not have priority over alternates for purposes of assigned tee times.
Members are requested to arrive ready to play 30 minutes before their scheduled tee time and are required to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tee time. The starter will replace an absent scheduled player with an available alternate 10 minutes before the tee time and there will be no reversal of that decision if a player arrives late.
Failure to appear on time twice in one season are grounds for removal from membership absent acceptable reasons for lateness.
Rules of Play
USGA Rules of Play as modified by local rules are to be followed in all events.
Seniors have adopted three local rules; the first being lift, clean, and place in your own fairway. Two other rules have been adopted in the interest of speed of play; the time to search for lost balls is limited to 2 minutes, Also, putts "within the leather" must be conceded by a player's opponent.
Handicap Posting
All scores must be posted in the handicap computer. Rounds of 9 to 12 holes played are posted as 9 hole rounds.
Rounds of 13 holes or more are to be posted as 18 hole rounds scoring holes unplayed as par for that hole plus any handicap strokes allocated to that hole for the player, e.g, an 18 handicapper would post a bogey for each unplayed hole.
Failure to post scores is considered a serious offense and grounds for removal from the Seniors.
